The Pets

So here at the Riley Ranch and Tiki Lounge, we have a few other pets.

First the cats.

Boy Cat

This is Grrrrr aka Boy Cat.  I adopted him about 10 years ago when I learned the apartment complex I lived in changed the rules to allow small pets.  He's a funny cat in that he does not sit on laps nor can I pick him up.  Ever.  Yet, he craves attention and likes to be in contact with me.  When I sit on the deck he lays on my feet.  His favorite place to be scratched is on the side of his neck.

Boy Cat and 'lil Guy

The one standing on the table is Split J. Mac aka Splitty aka 'lil Guy.  Hubby and I adopted a feral cat and her kitten about 3 years ago with the aim they would be our barn cats.  Hubby worked from home at the time and used to walk around with Splitty on his shoulder.  Splitty now follows me everywhere meowing constantly for attention.  If I don't pet him he swats at my legs until I give him scratches.  His favorite spot is in front of his ears.

He's also quite the mighty hunter.  I can hear him a mile away because he meows through his mouthful of whatever and has quite the strut when he comes up to the door to deposit his present to me.  I hate presents!

And just today, I brought home Blairstown!

Blairstown aka Mr. Beazley

We have a main street in our town with an empty neglected house that is home to a clowder of feral cats.  One of the residents is attempting to find homes for them all and as I have a barn with no barn cats, (Splitty's mom Lickety disappeared a couple of years back :( )  I raised my hand.

Blairstown aka Beasley was captured earlier this week and then taken to the local vet to be neutered, checked out and to get his shots.  I picked him up and brought him home.  He's in a cage for a bit because my barn doesn't have stalls or a way to completely close it up.  The ponies have a big run in area with no door.  But the cage is spacious and Blairstown is a small little guy so I think he'll be comfortable until he realizes he's home.

UPDATE:  So Mr. Beazley's (his official name) career as a barn cat has come to a swift end, just under 12 hours.  He's now a house cat.  Poor 'lil fella is blind in one eye and partially sighted in the other.  Hubby decided that he needed to be inside so he could keep a close eye on him.

Mr. Beazley all cozy in a bucket so Hubby can keep a close eye on him.

And last, but certainly not least, we have 2 goats.

Hubby has a friend down the street who raises goats.  They got to talking one day and Hubby decided we needed a goat to help with the weeds.  So he walked down the road and came back with Buckley.

A Boy and his Goat.  The resemblance is purely coincidental.

And even though goats + horses are a great combo...Hubby thought Buckley needed some goat company.  So one day he came home with Buckley's sister Bella.

Unfortunately I don't have a picture of her but she looks just like Buckley, just smaller.

The two of them are a riot to watch...they fight like...well...just like brother and little sister!
